Job Summary: This position is essential to the growth and long-term sustainability of operations and programs. The Development & Marketing Manager is responsible for retaining and expanding existing fundraising streams from annual campaigns, major donors, special events, individual foundations, and corporate donors, rooted in the concepts of community-centric fundraising and organizational values. This position works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, staff, and donors to ensure revenue goals are met to support the overall mission of Family Promise of Greater Rochester.

Hours: Full-time, exempt, hybrid work

Salary Range: $68,000 - $75,000

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to create, implement, and evaluate a fund development plan with measurable goals that increases revenue to support the strategic direction of the organization.

  • Cultivate, steward, and expand relationships with current and prospective donors, businesses, and organizations.

  • Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events as specified in the fund development plan.

  • Implement & market a planned giving program.

  • Maintain the donor database, including in-kind gifts, while respecting the privacy and confidentiality of donor information.

  • Ensure gift acknowledgements are completed in a timely manner.

  • Co-chair the Fund Development & Marketing Committee and engage members in stewardship and marketing efforts.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to research and identify new corporate, foundation, and private funding prospects to match priorities of organization.

  • Research, develop, and submit letters of intent and grant proposals to local and national foundations, corporations, and government funding sources.

  • Complete reporting requirements for foundation, government, and corporate grants. Appropriately track and submit reimbursement requests for all grants.

Community Relations/Marketing:

  • Develop a comprehensive marketing plan to promote the organization and maximize public awareness of fundraising activities and special events.

  • Oversee the design, printing, and distribution of annual reports, e-newsletters, brochures, annual appeal, and other development materials.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director in securing media engagement and attending networking events.

  • Work with staff to gather and present guest and volunteer stories using a trauma-informed, person-centered approach.

  • Present and speak on behalf of the organization to create new sources of philanthropic support.

Administrative:

  • Participate in ongoing education and relevant trainings or meetings to develop professional skills and opportunities for organizational growth.

  • Attend all meetings relevant to the position.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 - 4 years of previous experience with a not-for-profit organization is desirable, with experience in grant solicitation, donor cultivation, and special event planning. Working knowledge of annual giving, major gifts, foundation/corporate solicitations, marketing, planned giving, and event planning preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in marketing, communications, or related field.

  • Competency in Word, Excel, Google Drive, and knowledge of donor database management.

  • Detail-oriented, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy and flexibility.

  • Ability to contribute to a creative, collaborative, and respectful environment that promotes teamwork and an anti-racist, community-centered mindset.

  • Self-starter and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.

  • Motivation to get out of the office and build external relationships.
